School's out, craft's in

Hi there!

School's out for us and I'm so glad to be able to spend a little more time on things I love...family, friends and of course -- crochet!

Here's another variation of the deck shoes for a baby boy.

Here's also a pair of shoes featuring the soccer ball buttons ... and there are still some more in my stash...if you have ideas on how to use them in another way on baby boy crocheted shoes, I would love to hear from you!

Have a great start to the school holidays!

Wedding Vows

Aren't weddings the most romantic and wonderful times? Satin, lace, flowers, precious keepsakes AND the promise from one true heart to another - to love and to cherish forever.

For those of us who've been married many years, how much of that special day do we remember?
Or were we too tired from the extended preparations, too worried about whether things will go right -  guests who had to be taken care of, photographs we had to pose for, to register much of what was going on amidst the whirlwind of activity?

A dear friend requested this handcrafted Vow Booklet for her friends who are getting married soon.
May it become a special part of their memories and a reminder of their commitment to each other.

Booklet measures approx. 4.5 by 5.75" with hard covers and spine.

Its pages are held in place by triangular crown folds - those in the center can be removed for writing or embellishment simply by lifting up the folds.
On the first page - the theme of the couple's wedding.

On the inside back cover, an envelope to hold more keepsakes or special notes.

For me, putting this booklet together was also a good reminder to cherish my husband and our time together.
No matter how long we've been married, our marriages may be the most important 'work' we ever do. Every day with our spouse (especially after 10 hour migraine-inducing days at work, when there are meals to cook, sick children to look after through the night or simply when we feel overwhelmed by life's challenges) is an opportunity to renew and live up to the vows we made when we were bright eyed and flushed from love.

An Expression of Mom's Love

Hi there,

It's the time of the year where we remember the one person who has probably had the one of the greatest influence on our lives -- MOM.
If I could make a list of all the things (big and small) which my mom has done out of her love for me, I would probably run out of paper (or in the age of technology -- memory space!).

I wish I had started crocheting when my daughter was a baby so I could make soft cuddly shoes to keep her tiny feet warm...I still do miss the feel of them and how they always smell so sweet...
So when one of my dear friends L asked me to make three matching pairs (!) I couldn't wait to get started.

Here are the pictures of the 3 pairs...I hope the little princesses who receive them find them snuggly and comfy : )

Cookies & Cream theme with wooden button

Here you can see the double-sole with contrast pattern and the family name embroidered on it.
(No getting mixed up here!)

White and Dusky Pink theme with Rose Button

Pink! theme with Butterfly Button
(This pair was extra soft and snuggly but was a challenge to photograph...it needs a pair of feet in them...)

Once again, Happy Mothers' Day to all the mummies out their! (To mine: "I love you MOM!")

Happy Mothers' Day

Hello there!
Haven't managed to do much 'paperwork' lately but nothing like a customised order to get me out of my crafty rut :) This was put together at A's request - a timely reminder that Mothers' Day is round the corner!

Every year we try to do a little something for mum and mum-in-law during this time - get everyone together for a meal most likely. Our mums expect no special gifts - in fact, even though they had few opportunities to venture beyond the home, they gladly dedicated a large part of their lives to cooking and caring for their children, doing the most mundane of work that we take for granted, including double-boiling soups for their grandchildren so that they are well-nourished.

Many of my dear friends are mums too. While holding down full-time jobs, you are also wondeful multi-taskers - playing the role of expert tutors, bakers, counsellors and financial managers at home!  We may not double-boil soups :) but perhaps our struggles and efforts not any less than what our mums faced when they were raising us.

Dear mummy-friends, I am constantly encouraged and inspired by your talent, patience and the unconditional love you show your children.
More so, I am thankful that I have all of you to share the challenges and joys as I grow with my boys... that in all my bumbling ways and occasional tearful helplessness I am not alone.

Happy Mothers' Day!
