The Fair Isle

Hi there,

'Fair Isle' is a tiny island north of Scoland after which a traditional knitting technique is named. This technique produces beautiful patterns such as these:

This pretty coloured baby yarn from Sirdar is coloured to produce "an incredible Fair Isle colour effect". Now who could resist?

This yarn was used for the insoles of these white shoes (crocheted from a nylon/acrylic blend), fit for a little princess.
The double-soled shoes measure 3.75" x 2".
The flower petals unclasp from the white flower button...

Hope you like them!

A Soccer Fan?

Hi there,

Soccer fans will love these cute little soccer ball buttons I purchased on a whim.....and I've finally found the perfect use for them... aren't they cute?

These cotton yarn in dark chocolate contrasts beautifully with the baby blue acrylic/nylon blend. The double-layered sole gives structure and gives rise to the blue edging seen on the sole edge.

The sole also has a pattern on the underside ......
Hope you like it!

Another bookish experiment

Hi everyone

I'm just dropping in for a quick update on my 'bookish' adventures!
This is a 'Guestbook' (tutorial from Making Handmade Books by Alisa Golden) - folded from 1 sheet of rectangular textured paper and measures about 3.75" by 2.5". I topped it with a silver ribbon, little pearl drops and lace cut-outs.
Possibilities... a mini-album or a even a handmade storybook...

Have a good week ahead and stay tuned for the unveiling of my next 'book'!

A New Friend

Hi there!

It's Easter weekend and many of us are thankful (or even relieved!) for the long weekend.

Have you found time to catch up with family and friends? Speaking of which, I've made duck a new friend...
(Must say I'm happy with rabbit as I made her (or him?) from scratch...my very own design...I especially love the bushy tail... : ) )
Now I wonder what I should put it on....what do you think?
